I just realized that a lot of people are finding my site by searching “how to push domain from godaddy to sedo”. My guess is that what people are actually trying to find out is how to add domains to their Sedo.com account, that are registered at Godaddy.com.

So, here’s how to do that. I’m going to show you how to do it with a domain name registered with Godaddy.com, however, this can be done with any registrar or reseller.

Log in to your Godaddy.com account and go to your Domain Manager.

Select the domain or domains that you wish to add to your Sedo.com account and click “Nameservers”.

Tick the box “I host my domains with another provider”

In Nameserver 1: type in NS1.SEDOPARKING.COM and in Nameserver2: Type in NS2.SEDOPARKING.COM as shown below.

Now it’s time to add these domain names to your account at Sedo.com.

Log in to your Sedo.com account with your Username and Password.

Now ad your domain or domains, check the agreement box (this is just pablum), and click next.

On the next screen you’re going to be able to set things such as the asking price and minimum offer and also Master Category. This is very important if you domain receives traffic and you want your landing page targeted to potential visitors. You want to be honest about what people are probably looking for when they visit your domain name.

For instance, if you park Tomato.com, you don’t want them to see ads for Mesothelioma. This might seem like a good idea because of the imcredibly high price of such a keyword but trust me you will never see any clicks on a link that has nothing whatsoever to do with your domain name.

After you’re finished, just click next and Sedo.com will supply you with some info for how to set your Nameservers at your registrar, this is something we have already done earlier.

That’s it!

To transfer your domain name away from Name.com, you must make a request at the registrar where you have chosen to transfer your name. Please remember that ICANN regulations do not allow a newly registered name to transfer until it has been registered for at least sixty days.

When you make a request to transfer, the gaining registrar will require an authorization code. The authorization code(s) for your domain name(s) can be found directly within your account. Simply follow the steps below.

Log into your account.

At your account home page, click on the domain name you wish to transfer.

On the “Manage domain name” screen, the authorization code for your domain name will be listed on the right hand side of the web-page, next to the “Auth Code” designator.

For more than one authorization code, simply repeat steps 2 and 3.

If, for any reason, you are unable to find your authorization code(s), you can open a support request or give them a call. We are happy to assist you.

Your domain name will also have to be unlocked. To unlock your name, you can do the following:

Log into your account.

At the “Hello” page, click on your domain name, listed near the bottom of the page.

On the “Manage domain name” screen, click the image of a closed padlock.

Read the posted message, and press “Continue managing domain.”

Note: you may re-lock your domain by clicking the open padlock icon on the “Manage domain name” page.

If you have Hidden WHOIS active for your domain name, it will have to be disabled.

That should do it.

In the Control Panel (on the right side), click on “Account Transfer”, the Domain Account Transfer page will load.

Enter the Recipient’s / Buyer’s Account ID, check the applicable contact types, and click “Submit.”

That will initiate the transfer process and the domain will almost always be transfered within 24 hours.

However, Name.com’s system has been known to be a bit tricky, so I would want to keep an eye out for failed transfers. In which case, you’re best resort is to contact support.

At the time of posting you can contact support here.

All in all it’s pretty cool, I guess I still prefer searching at their site directly but this could save a few seconds for many domainers’ and time is one of our most cherished commodities, or is that Gold?

Here’s a story by The Tech Generation that I find incredibly interesting.

I say this because with each new addition to the TLD market we see a massive influx of interest from both novices and those who want to get in on a “good thing and hardcore, mainstay vets that see an opportunity to either turn a fast buck or make a short term killing.

Essentially, this is the world’s first foray into the first non-Latin character top level domain names.

Here’s the article:

Egypt is launching the first internet domain name to use the Arabic script, following ICANN’s decision to allow non-Latin top level domains.

The new suffix is pronounced ‘masr’, meaning ‘Egypt’.

The announcement follows the decision by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) to allow fast-track applications for domain names in scripts such as Hindi, Russian and Korean.

Speaking at a meeting of the Internet Governance Forum in Sharm el-Sheikh, Yahoo co-founder Jerry Yang said that although there are over 300 million Arabic speakers in the world, fewer than one percent of online content is in Arabic.

Egypt currently has just 15 million or so internet users, from a population of 80 million. Internet use is tightly regulated and, it is claimed, heavily censored.

Yesterday, Reporters Sans Frontieres, which campaigns for press freedom, criticised the Egyptian government for internet censorship. According to the group, the country recently arrested and tortured two young bloggers.

“Egypt is one of the enemies of the internet and if internet governance requires a degree of regulation, it should be of a liberal nature and not the kind that the Egyptian government would like to impose,” warned Reporters Sans Frontieres.

Here’s a short tutorial on How to “Push” a domain name to another members account at Godaddy.com

It’s simple really, if you have their account ID and the email associated with their Godaddy account.

Log in to your account, mouse over “Domains” a drop down menu will slide down, mouse over “My Domains” and click it, a new tab or window will open into your Domain Manager, locate the domain name you intend to push, select that domain by checking inside the box and select “Account Change”.

At this point you will see a popup box appear, all you need to do is “tick” the box “Use details from specified customer account”, then (copy & paste) the recipients customer number or login name and email (they force you to do this twice and you can’t paste into the “Confirm email address box) and click “Next” then click “Finish”.

Voila! You have initiated the transfer “Push” of the domain into your intended recipients account at Godaddy.
